Those of you who are privy to my Facebook previews saw when I picked up this great storage bench at Goodwill last week for $7.50. It was almost immediately claimed by my momma, who has been looking for something for at the end of her bed.
The front is hinged and opens up like a bi-fold closet door. It had a lot of great details going for it, but the huge knocker pulls were a little out of scale (and the end two completely superfluous.) Of course, it would be painted a lovely off-white and distressed to bring out those great details. I finished it up this evening and it’s ready to go (hear that, ma?) :)
I’m thinking those original knocker pulls just might be repurposed into a great hand towel rack for the bathroom. Wouldn’t that be great?

How pretty! I love the white hardware ~ so elegant! I'll bet your mom is going to love it!
ReplyDeletevery jealous, where are all these great thrift stores with furniture like that? We have junky particle board, laminate stuff that they try to sell for $40-$50...
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely! I really like the hardware you chose, you have a lucky momma!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! I was recently given one similar to this and have plans to paint it a soft white! Yours is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, how did you score that for $7.50. That would have been $50 at my Goodwill. It turned out so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteit looks beautiful! i am sure your mom is going to be so thrilled! and the towel rack knocker handles would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. What a smart move to leave the two end doors without hardware. I think it cleans it up and now it is perfect. I bet your mom is so pleased. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this piece. The white is great and you distressed it just right!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful, love the distressing and your creative idea to repurpose the pulls into hand towel holders.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! What a nice piece to give to your mom!
ReplyDeleteReally nice transformation. Removing the outer pulls was a great idea. Your Momma is going to love it, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out gorgeous and for 7.50 you can't go wrong!! She is going to love it!
ReplyDeleteI think re-purposing those pulls is a terrific idea. That bench looks great BTW.
ReplyDeleteThat's my girl, taking complete advantage of all those who are pricing impaired. We need to put together a complete US road map of all those thrift store workers who are pricing impaired. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow is it that we both live in AZ, but my Goodwill would have priced that at 39.99? I guess I'll have to come up and shop with you sometime. I really love this piece, Ann Marie! You can't even tell where the original hardware was. Usually I can't fill in that perfectly. That is so sweet to do that for your mom. Where did you find the new pulls? I love em! Thanks for linking, friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece and a lucky mama! Can't wait to see what you do with those knockers.
