French Coffee: I mean, cafe au lait

Sometimes, I have to settle for practical. I wouldn't say I'm selling out, exactly. But it is difficult to find that balance between funky fun and matchy matchy. But this time, everything came together  to give me the chance to do what I absolutely love, so I let loose.

Let me give you an example of what I was working off of:

I found this shabby little table, that I thought could've most definitely been once lovely. Ann Marie passed her up, but I'm a little more white trash than her. I just fell in love with the little tiny wheels at the base of the legs. So if this table were to work in the room above, what would it look like?

ALLRIGHT! so I painted the leather, yes.

  3. that is gorgeous, well done! Did you use some crackle medium on it to get that heavily distressed look?

  4. No- no crackle medium. It was just in some serious distress to begin with, and I embraced it's antiquiness, if you will. Please stay tuned for a beautiful hutch that I'm almost finished with. It has a similiar look to it.

  7. Looks terrific! I past up a leather top side table and kicked myself for it. I grew up with those tables and I think that's why I paused on it. The leather was throwing me! Next time I'll paint over it like you! Did you have to prime it?

  11. Ann Marie was totally wrong to pass that piece up. I'm with you. :) I love the way you treated this table. It looks perfect. I have a table with a leather insert that I'm planning to paint as well. This is great inspiration.
