Damask and Denim

Sorry for the longer-than-I-wanted absence. It's been one of those weeks where you have about 10 things needing your attention and nothing's getting completed.

I finished the pair of armchairs that I had been working on. The stamp on the bottom said that these are from Henredon Fine Furniture, which (I learned from Google) is a very hoity toity big deal furniture company. They are very well made and comfy chairs. I showed you in my last post how they looked when I brought them home from the GW:

Here they are all gussied up:

I painted them a black satin and did just a touch of distressing on the edges and to bring out the details (like the cool little concentric circles on the arms!) The seats are upholstered in a gorgeous black and white damask, and the back of the chairs upholstered in black denim. I used my favorite little frayed rosettes and gathered trim, like I did in the Lady's Sitting Chair as well.

(On a very exciting side note, the Lady's Sitting Chair has the great distinction of being Twice Lovely's very first sale!! Eeeeek!!! I posted the Turquoise Chair on Craigslist to see if I could drum up any interest going that route, and a woman contacted me saying that she LOVED the chair, but it didn't go with her decor, and could I show her any other pieces we have for sale. She fell in love with the Lady's Sitting Chair, and not only is she buying that, BUT ALSO wants to commission TL to find and fix-up a vanity to match!! So exciting!!)

I'd like to extend another great big thank you to everyone for making the start of this blog and our little business so exciting with your warm welcome and lovely comments. I'm tickled pink!

Cara will be posting to show off the dining room table we've been working on as soon as we put the finishing touches on it. It is stinkin' fantastic!! So excited for you to see...

TGIF!

  12. My mother-in-law redid a goodwill chair for me for my birthday last year and she used that exact same black and white damask. How funny. I love those circle on the chair arms too. What a great detail.
